Hallmark’s feel-good movies can be as wholesome as its greeting cards — and sometimes as predictable (in a good way). They range from Christmas movies with feel-good endings to horror and mystery movies with, well, still relatively happy endings. Hallmark knows what it’s good at, and what it’s good at is making highly watchable made-for-TV movies.
Thankfully for us cord-cutters, “made for TV” doesn’t necessarily mean “made for cable.” Hallmark Channel may be an archetypal cable-movie factory, but it’s surprisingly nontraditional on the streaming front. Hallmark Channel livestreams are available from some major streaming services, and Hallmark has an on-demand service of its own too. Here’s how to watch Hallmark Channel without cable.
How to Watch the Hallmark Channel Without Cable
If you’re craving Hallmark movies but you don’t want to pay for cable, you have two main options.
First, you could subscribe to a live TV streaming service. These services are a lot like cable or satellite, except they stream online, work on tons of devices, and don’t lock you into long-term contracts. Plus, some are a lot leaner and cheaper than cable, which is why they’re sometimes called “skinny bundles.” These services can give you a Hallmark Channel livestream, and many also include Hallmark Channel’s spin-off cousin, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
If you don’t care about live TV and you would rather choose what you watch and when, then you could also consider Hallmark Movies Now, the on-demand streaming service that comes straight from Hallmark.
Below, we’ll list all your options for watching Hallmark Channel and your favorite Hallmark movies online:
Can I Watch the Hallmark Channel on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chromecast?
If you’re ready to stream Hallmark movies and the Hallmark Channel, then you’re probably hoping to use a streaming device or smart TV platform such as Roku or Fire TV. Good news: The services we recommend work wonderfully on our favorite streaming devices and platforms.
Hallmark’s own app has great platform support too. For more on that, check out our guide to Hallmark Movies Now.
The compatible platforms are Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, iOS/Android, and your web browser.
More for Hallmark Fans
You can watch your favorite Hallmark movies online whenever you want, and there are even ways to stream the Hallmark Channel live without cable. Many options listed above also include access to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, a spin-off channel with even more Hallmark content. What a happy ending for cord-cutting Hallmark fans!
Where can you watch Hallmark Mysteries on TV without cable or satellite?
DIRECTV NOW, fuboTV, and Sling TV offer Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
Is there a way to record movies from any of these OTTs?
Hi Debbie,
fuboTV and Sling TV offer cloud-based DVRs, so you can record movies using them.
I have always supported Hallmark and recommend them to many people, but sadly even with paying extra for both channels I cannot record any of the great shows because I have a busy life and used to be able to record them. I have DirecTV and pay extra for the two channels. We refuse any of the so called movie channels due to not wanting the language or sexual content, but there isn’t any added value if I can’t watch it around my schedule.
Go to directv.com because there is a way to save a program for a few days so you can watch it later. I am not able to afford directv but last summer when I had it (and so did my sistere) we looked it up on the website and was able to save movies and programs for a few days till we could watch them.
Would love to know when new “When Calls the Heart” will return?
There will be a Christmas movie like they did last year, then season 5 will start in February.
Hoping Netflix gets season 5 of When Calls the Heart, and Heartland season 11. I live in Australia. Or where can I see them?
I have the same question, we in Australia are left high and dry when it comes to new series, it makes viewing unbearable. Like Bates Motel and When Calls the Heart on Netflix, so unfair!
I know what you mean!!! I am in Washington state and even we have to wait forever when it comes to getting new season for heartland. Heartland is a favorite of mine and I believe you can find episodes on (up faith and family). Sorry I don’t know how many episodes but just want to let you know.
My AT&T U-verse bill is ridiculous! Account charges $4.29, U-verse $165.10 (U450), internet $67.00, land line $48.69 = $285.08.
We watch Hallmark channels, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and need a decent internet connection. We never watch sports. Do any providers let you opt out of sports channels?
What do you recommend?
If you have not done so, please cancel ATT Uverse. $285, ouch.
Get Internet only = $50 / month
YouTube TV = $60 / month
And streaming of your choice, Netflix, etc = $15.00
Total = $125
Does Sling have the Hallmark TV series as well? Such as Chesapeake Bay?
Yes!
Sling is a live streaming service. Hallmark will be the same on it as it is on cable or satellite.
We are on just SS but love the Hallmark Channel. We have a Fire Stick and NO cable. What is the best way to pick up the Hallmark Channel as the Holiday movies will start soon and we both enjoy them? Can anyone make a suggestion that won’t cost a lot.
Sling TV. $25.00/month ($20.00 for the Blue package and $5.00 to add the Lifestyle package that includes the two Hallmark channels), and you can cancel after Christmas. No contracts. Also check into the Access internet program from AT&T for low income families. Just $10.00/month!
Marguerette, simply look up the app referenced in the article, Movies Now, in your App Store on the Fire Stick and sign up. I believe the article stated it was $5.99 per month or $4.99 per month if paid annually. I downloaded the CW app for free shows, too. Many channels have an app that doesn’t require a cable login or paid subscription, simply internet to stream by. 🙂
Hallmark Movies Now should be called Hallmark Movies “Then” because all the content is at least two years old. If you want to watch the new programs, then this will be a big disappointment.
I did this and cancelled before my free weeks were up. Very misleading!
YES… absolutely correct. I cancelled when I found out that the new movie releases were not on “NOW” !!
The app does not show the current content. It also is very limited to the worst shows and movies offered.
The app does not show the current content. It also is very limited to the worst shows and movies offered.
Philo TV its 16 buck
Does Sling TV have Chesapeake Shores on the Hallmark Channel?
Does Sling TV have the new Hallmark movies to be aired Christmas? I have Sling. If so, how much would it cost to add the Hallmark Channel? As we are on limited income.
You can add the Lifestyle Extra pkg to your Sling for an additional $5/mo. Includes the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Lifetime, DIY, Cooking Channel, and others.
Yes, Sling does if you have the basic channels which are about 25-30 cable channels for $20.00 and entertainment channels – $10.00 ($3.00 tax) -, which include the Hallmark and Mysteries channels. It will cost you about $33.00 (tax included). If you want the DVR service, it will be $38.00 (tax included).
Can you use Sling TV with a smart TV?
Sure! It’s available for Android TV, for example.
All good ways to watch Hallmark but one thing is not mentioned. What if you have no address in the US to use? They all need a card with a zipcode or also an address.
You’re right. These skinny bundles are, unfortunately, only available in the US.
You know, cord cutting is great, but you really have to watch yourself in getting all these additional “bundles” or you could be paying for more than cable or satellite itself.
I was thinking the same thing!
Can I watch Hallmark Mysteries & Movies using a Fire Stick? How much per month would that be?
You can! DIRECTV NOW, fuboTV, and Sling TV offer Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Sling TV is your cheapest option. With the Sling Orange package ($20/month) combined with the requisite Lifestyle Extra ($5/month), you can get Hallmark movies for $25/month.
Yes there is a Frndly app for $6.99 or $8.99 a month
Or just get channel Pear. You can add up to 5 channels to your library for FREE. I have TLC & Hallmark as well as TV-Land & The Weather Channel. If you go over 5, it costs $25 a year.
Hey Don, would you elaborate on this a bit? I’ve signed up with channel Pear. How do I add networks?
Is this still available? Is it available on a fire stick? I can’t find it.
What is channel pear hope do I get/find it
Netflix does have SOME Hallmark movies.
Yes, but since the new Hallmark Movies Now channel they will no longer have that relationship with Netflix.
I have the Sling TV bundle for $24.99 a month. I have downloaded the Hallmark Channel to my Roku. I do not have a cable provider. Am I able to watch Hallmark movies through Sling TV? Please advise, thank you.
Absolutely!
Does Hallmark Movies Now show ALL of the new movies? And do they show them at the same time they’re aired on TV, or do you have to wait? I want to watch some of the new Christmas ones this year.
I have Sling TV, the Amazon Fire Stick, and internet through CenturyLink. I can not get the Hallmark Channel and it’s driving me crazy! I need my Christmas movies! Please help!
Got DirecTV but coz don’t have HDTV can’t get Movies and Mysteries.
I am trying to Chromecast The Hallmark Channel. I have tried the iPad app as well as from Chrome web browser. The Chromecast option is not available. How can I use Chromecast. I have Charter Cable and am signed into my app via Charter.
Only option is to cast the Chromecast to desktop. Hopefully you are wise enough to know how to do it using the home app from a smart phone or tablet. Otherwise, on a laptop your best bet is to Google. I have no clue how to cast the desktop from a laptop or desktop unless it has Chromecast option for casting on the Chrome browser. You may need to get help for that. I plug a laptop directly via HDMI and a PC via the older VGIA cables on a older HD TV.
I lack electronic understanding. That said, I have two residences. Can only be at one or the other at any given time. If I have for example Sling TV do I need an account for each address or will one work for both? Do I need a Roku to make this work or just Wi-Fi, or?
One account will be enough, and you don’t need a Roku.
Any options for Canadians yet?
My husband and I have Spectrum Cable, Roku, and Netflix. We’ve held onto cable for the Hallmark Channel, DIY, and local stations for news. If we cut cable, Sling TV sounds like a good option for our entertainment, but as we like to watch local news daily and college football on the weekend, is that an option, or not? If not, what would you suggest?
I feel like you can get that with Sling TV. I liked Sling TV when we first cut out our cable. My husband likes PlayStation Vue… I hate commercials so I don’t watch it at all.
Does Sling let you skip commercials?
CenturyLink Stream also has Hallmark and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries but they are a bit pricey at $45.00 ($5.00 add on price included for the Hallmark stations). I subscribed with Direct TV Now, since I had a half off for two months code.
Are the Hallmark channels available through Hulu with Live TV?
Sadly, no. 🙁
I signed up for ‘Hallmark Movies Now’, but it appears to only have OLD movies. I was under the impression I would be able to see at least some of the new Christmas movies coming out.
Jennifer, I agree, it is super disappointing.
Same here Jennifer. Hallmark Movies Now isn’t the latest. We were after the Christmas movies too.
Can we talk about how this new Hallmark Movies Now is horrible?
The movies are OLD (back to the early 80s), very few newer movies, and if you had Feeln it is really the same just a new name. There was a lot of hype about how AMAZING this was going to be, but it surely fell short. It is disappointing that the quality that Hallmark is known for fall’s very short when it comes to streaming.
Ditto the comments about Hallmark Movies Now. Still on the free 7 day period but will cancel today. It’s just the old movies (and not really the good ones). I can check most of them out at my library on DVD. I thought it included Hallmark and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries show. NOT! Extremely disappointed in Hallmark Movies Now.
Agree with Trina and Cheryl. What good is Hallmark if it doesn’t have the new movies all year long by seasons like the commercials say!
Is there a way to get all the new Hallmark releases when you are unplugged?
I canceled my Hallmark Channel on my Roku because it was not the same as the Hallmark Channel Movies & Mysteries. A huge disappointment… Most of the movies were old movies… Disapointing… If you try I suggest sign up for a monthly trial first… You can always upgrade…
Wend, what service did you use? All of the skinny bundles listed here also include the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel.
It’s very disappointing that Hallmark is not up to date on streaming. We cut our cable and have Hulu. We chose this because we can get all of our local channels with Hulu on our Fire Sticks. I miss my Hallmark channel. Hallmark needs to get in this century.
I would sign up for the streaming TV services. AT&T Watch streaming service has two out of the three Hallmark stations for $15 a month. Downside, no DVR, but it’s the cheapest option, plus includes other stations. If you have AT&T Unlimited service, it is free.
Will Hallmark be coming to Hulu?
How is “skinny bundle” any different than cable? I still have to pay for a bunch of stuff I don’t want, to get the one thing I do want. When is Hallmark going to name their price and let us buy the content a la carte? Movies Now is a bunch of old crap and Amazon has only a small percentage of Hallmark movies for purchase.
We dropped Comcast 6 months ago, including internet. We use cell signals and stream from phone to TV with a dex or a lightning cable device. Most streams allow such screen mirroring, but hallmark movies blocks picture even on Sling or Frndly. I don’t know how, but they do. Anyone know of a skinny bundle group that will let it work?
The Hallmark Channel is available on the streaming service FRNDLY.
